Virtuality by LaGaDesk Virtuality by LaGaDesk
KDE SC 4.13.0 - BE::Shell - Virtuality - Bespin

a first try of virtuality, a new style for KDE (Qt4 and Qt5) ...

I'm not a big fan of such flat styles, but Thomas did again an excellent job on this! I'm sure it will find a lot of friends who like it flat (minimal).

I can see, in Dolphin you have two tool bar with different color, how you get that?

"My bad" - the dolphin statusbar follows the toolbars since a few days only (after Lars took the screenshot) - it's a problem since that stupid thing isn't actually a statusbar and doesn't cover the entire bottom area.
*Maybe* it should unlike all other statusbars indeed only invert if toolbar AND docks are inverted (where the docks are not for juanuni)

Thanks for your response. I just have a dude: why the docks are not for me? :S

They're not by default. Run "virtuality config" and tick the "Invert/Docks" item

Huh? There is just one toolbar.

Well, the toolbar (on top) is right, but I mean, the little bar in bottom which show free space in HD. In my case the toolbar (on top) and the little bar (on bootm) have the same color. I can't change their colors in my way. How you make that?

I'm not a fan of flat either :(
I've tried it this morning, played a bit with the configuration
and used the presets too (flynn, sienar).
But there's nothing to do: i don't like it.
Despite this premise i wish good luck to Thomas with this project,
it's not easy to conceive an original design & meet ppl's appreciation :)

Well, it is no theme engine, it is just a style. And it is like oxygen
or plastic and all the other old styles: there is nothing to do.
As a new style it is not that bad, it follows the new trend to a
flat gui and you can like that trend or not.
For me it looks a little bland and boring. I'm missing elegance.
The good thing is, we can still use Bespin. ;)

> the thing that confused me[...] is the combobox design.
The combobox is no button :)
Clicking it doesn't trigger anything.

It's more like a dynamic label, related to radiobuttons and spinboxes.
Thus the circle (i could close it on hover as well to better sell the "push me" aspect)

The line connect to the text is in a way required to point the context and i didn't want to put it into a cartouche, since that could suggest "edit me".
I also had a counter arc on the text side
ComboBox )---------(v
and tried dotted and broken lines, but liked neither (nor animating the line towards the text on hover - the context needs to be persistent)

Putting the dropdown arrow left of the text is no option because of QFormLayout and similar usage:
Some Setting: Some Combobox --------(
Another Setting: Another Combobox ------(

> About the tabs i have contrasting feelings, dunno what to say
The truth.
I can take some and at best it gets better (and I can make you like a design without gradients, glosses and shaows =)

> it's not easy to conceive an original design & meet ppl's appreciation
ouch ;-)
Either Lars or Rob however warned me that you'd not be very happy with this =)

By the way: there are some elements that i do like
(most of the buttons), while the thing that confused
me, as a stupid human trying to understand a GUI, is the
combobox design.

About the tabs i have contrasting feelings, dunno what to say
